Last year, high demand took its toll when a large part of home deliveries wasn’t made on time and as a consequence companies lost sales and money. The logistics sector has been prepared to withstand the increase in demand and has taken the necessary steps to avoid disappointing customers.
With Black Friday weekend last week and Christmas just around the corner, it is estimated that the demand for shipments to domiciliation has increased by 60% with respect to the average of annual deliveries. Companies have seen with the obligation to hire up to 7,000 workers to manage online platforms. This measure is a big cost but is necessary to be able to send a time to the almost 2 million packages that are distributed daily each year from Black Friday onwards.
In addition to the strong growth during these dates, the delivery of packages at home has grown up to 25% in previous years and it is expected to continue doing so. Because of this, companies are already working to optimize their web pages and make them faster and more efficient. Companies will also bet on digitization to improve shipping routes, avoid failed deliveries and choose better delivery points.
